BlackBerry Storm Video

August 23, 2009 GreatWorld Leave a comment

Watching any television programs whenever you want just got easier as Verizon Wireless said today that its V CAST Video on Demand service is now available to BlackBerry® Storm smartphone customers.
There were quite a few things about it when the RIM BlackBerry Storm debuted last year that made us scratch our heads. One of the biggest was the 3G handset’s limited support for Verizon Wireless services. Though it could play music and video, it didn’t support Verizon’s V Cast Music or the carrier’s V Cast Video.

Apparently, Verizon realized not all was well in the land. On Friday the carrier announced that the Storm would support V Cast Video for your viewing pleasure. The cost will be $10 per month for the usual programming including news and weather, sports recaps and television programming.

V Cast Video and the earlier V Cast Music addition help the Storm gain a little more respectability. Now if they could just fix that SurePress feature.

V CAST Video Also Available On Many Feature Phones
Customers who have select V CAST-enabled feature phones can check out V CAST whenever they want for just $3.00 for a one-time 24-hour use or by signing up for the $15.00 V CAST VPak monthly subscription, which includes access to V CAST Video featuring more than 100 full-length programs from leading broadcast and cable networks, the Verizon Wireless ESPN MVP service, Get It Now®, and Mobile Web services.

Customers get unlimited basic video, but application download fees may apply for 3D games and premium video. There are no airtime or megabyte charges to download, stream or watch V CAST content with any V CAST subscription.

For more information about products and services from Verizon Wireless, visit a Verizon Wireless Communications Store, call 1-800-2 JOIN IN or visit www.verizonwireless.com.

Nokia Siemens Networks News

July 17, 2009 GreatWorld Leave a comment

“The market is going through a huge seismic shift right now. People want more functionality in their phones, even the less expensive phones. They are demanding a good user interface. And they’re refusing to put up with a bad Internet experience.” said Frank Meehan, CEO of INQ Mobile

It’s reported that Nokia Siemens Networks [NSN.UL] said on Thursday it won a 1.1 billion euro ($1.55 billion) order to operate the networks of Brazilian telecom firm Oi (TNLP4.SA)(TNE.N) over the next five years.

Telecom operators across the world are increasingly looking at outsourcing the running of their networks to companies like Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN) and Sweden’s Ericsson (ERICb.ST), which last week won $4.5-5 billion deal with Sprint

Samsung i780

It’s thin (115.9×61.3×12.9mm), compact and has a contemporary and clean design. A 2.55’’ 65536 (320×320) TFT LCD with landscape view brings you clear and bright visuals. It’s a subtle way to make a statement.

It has an optical joystick that acts like a mini-optical mouse lets you hop screens, page through favorite options and get familiar with the GUI with freewheeling 360-degree action. It’s almost like you’re playing a game.

A touch screen grants you immediate and easy access to frequently used functions. You can also pin-point your selections with a stylus pen or type messages.

Ot’s integrated GPS combines Garmin’s handy location-based services with Google Maps. Assisted GPS software for Orange (Webraska) users consumes less handset power, eliminates interference and boosts accuracy.

Download data at 3.6Mbps (translation: large attachments are a breeze!), update your corporate database and share files in real time. Also enjoy high-speed connectivity, video calling and multimedia downloads.

Tap into Wi-Fi public access hotspots in airports, hotels, coffee shops and more. Go online across wireless networks. Peer-to-peer connectivity lets the i780 transfer files to other devices, expanding the networking possibilities.

Nokia Step Into The Future

When will this day, when laptops and cell phones can charge without having to plug them in come? Prototype Nokia phone recharges without wires, yahoo. tech reports.

Nokia has taken another baby step in that direction with the invention of a cell phone that recharges itself using a unique system: It harvests ambient radio waves from the air, and turns that energy into usable power. Enough, at least, to keep a cell phone from running out of juice.
