All you need in life is a good smart phone

Can you remember a time when to get by in life, you needed to have a staggering amount of stuff upon your person at all times? Where once we frequently needed to carry a mobile, map, notepad, diary, wallet and newspaper to fully master and enjoy our urban environments, now we only need one thing to fulfil all the same requirements as these items and more: a smart phone.

Whether you’re into iPhones, Android or even *shudder* Blackberries, it’s now possible to answer practically all of the needs of the modern urbanite (or countryside explorer, for that matter) with the swipe of a touch screen.

The death of money?

Lost your wallet? Luckily you can now pay for goods at any outlet which accepts contactless payments by using apps such as Google Wallet, which allows users to tap and pay, with the option to easily de-activate the app if the phone is lost or stolen. Why trouble yourself with carrying a wallet full of grubby cash when you can simply transfer your funds via smart phone? Emptier pockets, simpler payments.
i get around…

Who actually gets lost nowadays? Thanks to a host of new map apps available across the smartphone market, users can now navigate their way around just about anywhere in the developed world using clearly depicted map data, integrated into a directions application which utilises the user’s GPS co-ordinates in order to track their position to a good degree of accuracy. With the option to even have your phone tell you which way to turn, there really is no excuse for losing your way in 2013.

Changing the way we play

Not so long ago, Nintendo Game Boys were pretty much our best option for gaming on the move (unless of course, you prefer the earthy thrills of a crossword or Sudoku puzzle!) Smart phones have made a significant mark in the gaming industry over the past few years, and mobile app games such as Angry Birds and Fruit Ninja are rapidly gobbling up a significant share of the gaming market.

Apps have even changed the way we go about entertainments such as pub quizzing – where once pen and paper quizzes dominated, the new app based quiz variant SpeedQuizzing is quickly making a mark, gaining popularity thanks to its frenetic gameplay experience and safeguarding against cheating. You can test your music knowledge with the apps extensive selection of music based quizzes. Thanks to smart phone technology, whether we’re at work, rest or play, we now only require one item in our inventories.

The Wide Variety Of iPad Accessories

The iPad arguably created the tablet market. Apple product shocked the world and revolutionized the concept of a personal computer. Ever since computers became small and portable enough to be carried around, developers have strived to create the smallest and most portable device packed with the most processing power possible. While the device may be used in a leisurely manner to check emails and websites, these small devices have enough processing power to also serve as functional tools.

The iPad has the processing capabilities of a computer, but lacks the physical components many of us are used to. This device is basically a touch screen with a build in processor without any external components such as a track-pad or keyboard. There is a touch screen keyboard that allows you to enter all the normal characters as a typical keyboard and there are navigation features build into the touch screen technology that essentially eliminates the need for these attachments. However, the iPad does have the processing power to handle laptop worthy tasks so some people choose to fit their iPad with these devices, giving them all the power of a laptop with unsurpassed portability.

iPad accessories

There are many popular iPad accessories as companies recognized the needs of these new mobile gadgets, for instance, many people who use their iPad for work related projects choose to invest in external memory cards, as the memory capacity is somewhat limited. If you are using the device for work and only store text based documents and files, there are years’ worth of memory to work with. However, some of us use the device as a media storage centre, taking movies and music with us where ever we go.

If this were the case, then having some sort of external memory device would be very beneficial. Furthermore, with the purchase of one specific cable you can literally plug your iPad directly into a T.V., making it a true media source of fun and entertainment.

In general, the most popular accessory for the iPad would be one of the many available cases. Since the device is meant to be hand held and features a giant touch screen for its face, it is only natural that people want to protect their gadgets.

Therefore, there is a huge market for iPad cases, with many different cosmetic and functional design features being offered. Some cases will physically support the unit, enabling it to be viewed horizontally instead of vertically. Other cases offer superior protection and minor physical protection, while others cases offer the exact opposite. What ever you are looking for, there is a case that will fit your needs. It’s just a matter of finding the right one for you.

How to Block Calls on Android

Having a mobile phone such as the Android is indeed great in terms of being able to connect with friends, family as well as your peers. At the same time, Android phones nowadays are so advanced that it can also allow you to do a bunch of things such as be online, send e-mails, play games and even make video conferences, and like it’s not enough, the Google Play store is filled with thousands of Apps to choose from. At least you have good app review websites such as Apps Pirate to help pruning the bad apps. However, the Android is still a phone and you can receive calls that you may not want to take due to a variety of reasons. There are certain times that you would not want to be bothered at all or do not want a specific set of people to call you. Here are some tips on how to block calls on Android phones.

The very first method of blocking phone calls on your Android is the easiest process of all. By enabling this, you will be ensuring that a specific person or group of people do not have access to you no matter what happens. In fact, you will not even realize they were attempting to call you at all. So to do this, you can put a caller on the blacklist by going to the “Call Settings” under the Menu button of your phone. In it, you will have to tap on “Add Phone Number” to manually type in the phone number of the caller you want to block or pick out on an entry from your phone book by tapping the icon on the right side. Once you are done, simply tap on “OK” to finish. Alternately, another method to blacklist a caller is to tap the “Add to Blacklist” option when you are receiving a call from that person in that precise moment. The next time an attempt is made to call you, all they will receive is a busy tone.

You can also send callers directly to voicemail by going through your contacts and selecting those who you want to have directly sent to it. Click on the “Edit Contact” option and in there you will see the “Incoming Calls: Send Calls Directly to Voicemail” button. Tap on that and the next time your contact tries to call, your phone won’t even ring at all. On the other hand, there are callers that are not on your contacts list and the only way to make sure that they are people you want to talk to is to take a risk and answer their calls. However, this does not prove to be fruitful most of the time.

There is an app you can download which automatically blocks spam callers and it is called Call Control for the Android. This is an FCC-approved app and contains thousands of blacklisted numbers that will automatically prevent each from contacting you at all. So, you never have to worry about those pesky telemarketers or vagrants trying to rob your information from you at the most inconvenient of times. This is an app you cannot live without especially if you value your privacy!
